The courses
“Oh, how beautiful it is!”
A trip along the tracks is full of exclamations. We can't seem to stop telling each other how beautiful it is here. The forest in Paradise - Rudan has long been one of our absolute favorites to run in. We often long for it. We are very happy and proud to be able to invite you to Paradise.
With start and finish on the large grassy areas between the two Rudansjöarna in Haninge, the courses take you out into the wonderful. Over rock slabs, blueberry rice and spang. The path is a bit tricky, roots and stones require focus and active feet. The hilling is sensible, but it is clearly there.
Your first watering hole on the way is the energy station Riddartorp after 6 km. Here the lanes split. Half a 13 km turn north on cozy paths and soon meet Helan again, then on the way home.
For the Helanlöparna, it's off to a gallop across the bog by Lake Öran and out into the real wilderness. The forest here is classified as primeval forest and the animal life is rich, not least the woodpecker thrives here.
When the ice sheet retreated ten thousand years ago, Tornberget was the first of the Södertörn to emerge from the Litorina Sea, the mother of the Baltic Sea. Lake Tornbergsjön is a remnant of this ice sea. Tornberget, with its 111 meters above sea level, is Stockholm's highest natural point. And you probably feel a little in your legs when you go up to the top of the mountain. People have lived here since the Stone Age. It's not hard to understand them, it's beautiful and it's one of the quietest areas in Stockholm - only that's a luxury. Listen to your own breath and enjoy.
The second energy station appears at Torpet Paradiset after 16 km, when you have conquered Tornberget and the occasional hill. The old croft was the state residence that became independent agriculture. Now the houses are rest cabins for walkers – and runners.
After Paradise's energy station, we head east, past Lake Trehörningen. And where the Halvanbanan connects, it appears. The marsh. Talked about by the runners, maybe a little feared but definitely memorable. Once back on the path after the unpaved part, it rattles on towards Rudan's outdoor area and the looming goal.
